This week in the wheel of the year Mabon is occurring. Mabon, also known as the Autumn Equinox is the time when, here in the southern hemisphere, we begin to see the signs of autumn appearing.
Specifically, on March 20th, 2024 the length of day and night is in perfect balance! This day is the perfect time to create an altar to help you focus on bringing balance into your life, show gratitude for the abundance you have received during the summer months, and release all that is no longer serving us as we move into a new phase of the year.
For me, following the wheel of the year is about honouring and acknowledging the passing of time as well as connecting and tuning in to nature and the natural rhythms of the earth. Incorporating the wheel of the year into my spiritual practice has helped me slow down time. Instead of getting to the end of the month and wondering where the time has gone, I spend time in the present moment and take notice of what is going on around me in nature. Becoming aware of the moon cycles is another great way of honouring and acknowledging the passing of time, to become more present and mindful.
If you want to learn more about the wheel of the year or moon phases, below are some info-graphics you can download that show significant dates in 2024 regarding the cycles of nature and the moon.
One of the many reasons I love connecting with Mother Earth is her beautiful healing and cleansing qualities. Spending time each day outdoors is known to ease mental health issues and help physical wounds heal quicker; best of all, it's 100% free!
One of my favourite practices is to walk barefoot around my garden as I drink my morning coffee. This is a beautiful mindful practice where I am focussing on my connection with Mother Earth. For a moment or two, I will stand still and envision roots growing from my feet and joining with the Earth. I then release any negative energy or energies that are no longer serving me into the earth, where they are neutralised and returned to me filled with the warmth, love and healing I need from Mother Earth.
Gaia or Mother Nature is a beautiful healer and can take the energies we wish to release and absorb, neutralise, and cleanse them before releasing them back into the Universe. Her rhythms and cycles are around us always, they are innate within us as much as any other animal as we are all a part of nature. The cycles of life and death occur every day, and being in tune with this can help alleviate any uncertainty or fear surrounding death or endings.
I share more on full moon rituals and honouring the wheel of the year on my Facebook and Instagram accounts so don't forget to head on over and follow if you don't already.
With love, light & kindness
Wendy
